Canadian standards body to develop whistleblowing best practices guidance

The CSA Group (formerly the Canadian Standards Association) is set to develop a best practices guideline for whistleblowing arrangements within an organization. This is aimed at the public and private sectors, as well as NGOs and voluntary organizations.

This guideline will be particularly important to organizations that are expected – or required by law – to have in place effective whistleblowing arrangements, for example as part of their transparency and accountability framework.

CSA Group is now calling for people from various backgrounds who have expertise in this area to take part in developing the guideline.

David Hutton, executive director of FAIR, notes “This is an exciting project that has the potential to change the landscape for whistleblowing in Canada. I hope that people will come forward to represent all the various perspectives that need to be taken into account in creating this guideline.
