Spanish National Radio hosted a discussion dedicated to whisteblowing this past weekend. Well-known radio hosts Rosa Maria Calaf and Carles Mesa interviewed our very own Bruno Galizzi, discussing whistleblower protection in Spain, public attitudes to this anti-corruption action and the potential of effective whistleblower protection for Spain and Europe.

Calaf is a veteran journalist and former news anchor of Televisión Española, with more than 25 years as a TVE correspondent. She has received numerous prizes for her work. Carles Mesa presents the weekend radio show No es un día cualquiera.

Growing interest from the Spanish media in the lead up to the deadline for all EU countries to transpose the EU Directive protecing whistleblowers serves an important public interest. Spain is one of the EU member states with the lowest level of protection in law for whistleblowers. At the same time, recent research indicates that Spaniards favour stronger support for whistleblowers and speaking up about wrongdoing.
